"After a delicious sun-soaked coastal highway cruise with great music playing, my first interest on arriving at Peggy's Cove Nova Scotia, was the rocky ocean's edge. In deck shoes and hooded fleece, I scampered over huge boulders to my old friend the sea. Having seen placid photos and paintings, I was unprepared actually, for the fierceness of the waves here.
Finally I stretched out on a granite slab, sheltered from the wind and 'zoned' in the sun and ocean roar, for the penetrating effect of the majestic elements. The crashing waves while I love them , had a bit of a startling effect - so much power!!
By the time I got back to Peggy's, most of the tourist crowd had left and I then happily enjoyed the delighful, timeless fishing village. I was at Peggy's Cove! Wahooo!!"
While my photographic skills and very simple equipment don't do justice, these are some of the scenics that make Peggy's Cove the Famous Painter's Paradise that it is.

Deborah - Your photos are breath-taking and the last one with the wave and the photographer on the rock, priceless!
Deborah, Not only do I get to see these wonderful places with you, I feel like I experience them with you! Gorgeous photos and I love your journey!
Deborah: absolutely breath taking. Thank you for taking the time to share these with us.
Deborah -
I believe...
you have taken me on a trip down memory lane
Your pictures capture the essence of the cove, it has been many years since we were there but your pictures make it seem like it was yesterday.
Wow Robert - Just great !! That photographer on the rocks near Peggy's Cove, I was told, was taking his life in his hands to get his post Hurricane San Juan shots.
Carole - I thought of you frequently on my Nova Scotia trip - so near yet so far away in Long Island New York - so I am glad you enjoyed the journey!!
Hello Dianne - well at least I was on the same side of the continent as you while in the Maritimes. I thought it was breath-taking myself - the raw energy of the ocean that you are used to down in Florida with the hurricanes there.
Hello Kathy - so pleased to reawaken some memories for you! I will not easily forget this extraordinary experience in Atlantic Canada!
Your out-doing me on my own turf! Super shots! Thats it - I'm going out with the camera tomorrow!
I've heard of Dennis - thats insane down that close to the water during that kind of weather.
Hi Deborah .... all of the photos are so marvelous ... I really do have to visit NS one of these days. As trips go, it isn't that far, and your descriptions on your posts just make it all the more enticing.
Great for you Paul!! I look forward to your photos of Halifax County - I do have such fond memories and miss it so!
...and you are right, that was just nuts of whoever that was in the picture being so close to those waves !!
Hello Marie you really will have to visit Nova Scotia! You are really so close. There are ferries from Bar Harbour to Yarmouth if that helps at all. I did think of you and the other ladies on AR in the New England states that I've gotten to know, while I was there, but sooo far away in certain ways - full itinerary, passport, yada.....
Deborah, I have a commemorative plate from Peggy's Cove taht I bought at Niagara-on-the-Lake, several years ago, and it's on my list of places to visit. Thanks for these extra shots. Just Beautiful.
Hi Bob - I certainly hope you get to Peggy's Cove. There are many other marvelous sights through all of Nova Scotia. especially loved a small un-touristed lobster fishing village called West Berlin, near Shelburne NS.
Deborah, neat photos. Could not help but notice the picture of the brave photographer and his tripod in your last shot...
Deborah, You took me with you! Beautiful. :)
Deborah, I can see Winslow Homer and Andrew Wyeth and Norman Rockwell in every photograph. Exquisite photos! Easy to see why painters would flock there - and photographers as well!
Great pictures! It's wonderful to see the appreciation of the local beauty by visitors to our province. Thanks.
Thanks Michael! I believe that photographer was perhaps more foolish than brave - that is far too close to the residual waves of Hurricane Noel! That photo is by Dennis Richards of nearby Hackett's Cove.
Thanks so much Sharon - you are very kind Those are pretty famous artist's names, but you are right - I can visualize the same; see them there!
Lola that is such a high compliment - it was a marvelous time in Nova Scotia! Thanks so much - and also for featuring Famous Painter's Paradise * Peggy's Cove Nova Scotia * Spectacular Waves
My dear Scott (tatoo-ed ;)) - you live in a spectacular part of this marvelous planet! If was pure pleasure and a deep honor to live in Halifax this summer and visit Peggy's Cove, as well as so many exquisite locations.
What wonderful photos of a beautiful place. Thanks so much for sharing your trip.
Thanks Bonnie for stopping by - Nova Scotia, the Maritimes, and Peggy's Cove is pure bliss to me. And you have the awesome Great lakes near you.
